Why does love always feel like a battlefield?
God makes me rewrite lyrics like this sometimes to make me remember that the Body of Jesus followers I am a part of is only as strong as it's weakest member that I keep judging. The member I keep judging because they are not as steadfast in their faith as I am, or maybe just not as disciplined or as strong of a believer as me. Actually, they should just pull their heads out of their butts and start pursuing Jesus like I pursue Him. Then maybe they wouldn't have so many problems and would stop making the body of Christ look so obnoxious and uncoordinated and unappealing.
Because, you know, arrogance and judgment are SO much more appealing to people who's lives are in desperate need of a Redeemer and a Savior.
Or maybe, if I stopped seeing what people were doing wrong and called them to more. Maybe if I expected the most out of them and forgave the worst in them. Maybe, if I spoke the truth in love to them and stopped coating non-answers in sugary lies that make living in rebellious apathy seem palatable and affirmed by me. Maybe if I loved the entirety of them and remembered that one day, we're going to stand next to each other as saints and worship the same God who loved both of us despite who we were and what we'd done. Maybe if I remembered that my call is to love them. Not teach them. Not correct them. Not fulfill them. Not evaluate them.
Love them
Maybe then Christ's arm would stop trying to chop off His leg with a weed-eater.
But don't you know who you they are,
What's been done for you them?
Yeah don't you know who you they are?
You They are more than the choices that you've they've made,
You They are more than the sum of your their past mistakes,
You They are more than the problems you they create,
You've They've been remade.
Well she tries to believe it
That she's been given new life
But she can't shake the feeling
That it's not true tonight
She knows all the answers
And she's rehearsed all the lines
And so she'll try to do better
But then she's too weak to try
But don't you know who you they are?
You They are more than the choices that you've they've made,
You They are more than the sum of your their past mistakes,
You They are more than the problems you they create,
You've They've been remade.
'Cause this is not about what you've they've done,
This is not about where you've they've been,
This is not about what you feel,
But what He felt to forgive you them,
And what He felt to make you them loved.
You They are more than the choices that you've they've made,
You They are more than the sum of your their past mistakes,
You They are more than the problems you they create,
You've They've been remade.
You've They've been remade
You've They've been remade.
You've They've been remade.
You've They've been remade.
